Thank you for your interest so far, we would be grateful if you would spend a few moments to familiarise yourself with our Terms and Conditions which apply to ALL bookings.                                                                                   Bookings are accepted only on condition that you, the hirer accepts and fully understands these terms and conditions.

All intending drivers must present a full valid New Zealand Drivers License which must be held for at least one year, OR a current International Drivers License, OR a current Drivers License of your home country (if this is not in English, you will need a translated copy)

The minimum driving age for car hire is 21.

All prices quoted on this Web Site are in New Zealand Dollars and INCLUSIVE of 15% GST (Goods and Services Tax).

A bond is required for all hires.

You will be asked to sign a separate security bond of $1500.00 nzd for over 25 years of age, or $2000.00 nzd for under 25 years of age in the form of a Credit Card imprint, or a cash deposit. This bond covers your excess upon an accident or damage to the vehicle, plus any extra costs such as fuel refill at the end of your hire or any traffic infringements, losses or breakages.

A credit card imprint must be on all rental agreements and must be the credit card of the main hirer, unless prior arrangements have been made.

VEHICLE HIRE:

A deposit of NZ$200.00 per vehicle is to be paid at the time of booking.  Unfortunately we cannot 'hold' a booking for you until we have received your deposit. 

100% of the deposit held is refundable up to 14 days prior to the date of hire, after this period a cancellation results in loss of the deposit paid to Classic Car Experience Ltd. If rebooking for another date within the last 2 weeks is required, this can be done with no loss of deposit or any extra charges.

The following are accepted for deposit: CASH, DIRECT CREDIT, CHEQUE or VISA/MASTERCARD.

The standard rate period is ONE DAY (24 hours), however you can hire for a 'PART DAY' whereby the charge will be 'two thirds' of the standard daily rate. 'PART DAY' is considered to be any hire less than 5 hours.

Late returns of any vehicle hire of less than 24hrs, will result in a surcharge of 20% of the standard daily rate per hour overdue.

For hires longer than 24hrs, Classic Car Experience offers you a 59-minute grace period at the end of the hire, after which each extra hour is charged at 20% of the standard daily rate, to a maximum of 4 hours, after which an extra full day will be charged.  

Fuel is NOT INCLUDED in our rates. 

You will be provided with a full tank of petrol at the start of the hire. We ask that you refill the vehicle to the same level on your return (at your expense.) Failing to do this, Classic Car Experience will refill the tank at the prevailing rate applied by us at the time.

All our vehicles at Classic Car Experience require PREMIUM GRADE FUEL. If we find a lower grade of fuel has been used, the hirer will be charged for fuel tank drainage and refilling.

Vehicle insurance is included in the daily rate of hire.

Drivers aged 25 and over an excess of NZ$1500.00 applies.

Drivers aged 21 to 25 an excess of NZ$2000.00 applies.

There is no excess for damage or loss resulting from fire or from the theft or conversion or attempted theft or conversion of the vehicle. 

Also, the hirer and any driver authorized to drive the vehicle are indemnified to the extent of NZ$2,000,000 in respect of any liability he/she might have for damage to any property (including injury to any animal) belonging to any other person an arising out of the use of the vehicle.  

All our cars have 24 hour AA (Automobile Association) roadside assistance cover in case of mechanical breakdown etc. This service is provided free to the hirer accept in the case of "own fault", eg: wrong fuel, lost keys, accident etc, and will be charged at the time by the AA.

In the unlikely event of mechanical breakdown we will, depending on the circumstances, either contact the AA to help with roadside assistance, or if this proves to be unsuitable because of a major breakdown, substitute the vehicle with another classic from our fleet (at our cost) to get you on your way again as soon as possible. 

If neither of the above options are physically possible, and the failure of the vehicle is due to a major fault, the hire will be terminated and depending on circumstances a refund of the unused part of the hire will be given as well as travel costs back to Christchurch.

No further compensation will be made or paid, and no liability will be accepted by Classic Car Experience Ltd.

The hirer will be held responsible for any and all damage to vehicles and/or equipment.

Smoking and/or Drug Taking is NOT PERMITTED in any of our vehicles. 

New Zealand law requires that when you are traveling in a motor vehicle, the driver and all passengers must wear their seat belts at all times. The fine for not wearing a safety belt or allowing a person under the age of 15 to travel unrestrained is NZ$150 for each belt not worn.   

Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a serious offence in New Zealand. If you're an adult the legal blood alcohol limit for driving is no more than 80 milligrams of alcohol for every 100mls of blood. Legal charges range from manslaughter to failure of evidential blood or breath alcohol tests. The penalties result in imprisonment, loss of licence and/or disqualification and fines.

The speed limit is the maximum legal speed that you can travel at on a road in perfect conditions. The maximum fine for exceeding a speed limit is NZ$1000, which applies to serious speeding offences that are dealt with in court. Most speeding offences are subject to infringement fees (instant fines), which range from NZ$30 for driving up to 10 km/h over the limit to NZ$630 for driving between 46 and 50 km/h over the limit.
